The Trumbull Public Schools are pleased to maintain membership in the Tri-State Consortium, a group of high-performing school districts from Connecticut, New York, & New Jersey all dedicated to continuous, systemic improvement.
A benefit of Tri-State membership is the opportunity to host regular critical friends visits by teams comprised of teachers, building-level administrators, and central-office administrators from other high-performing districts. In February 2016, Trumbull hosted a three-day consultancy in which a visit team analyzed documentary, interview, and observation evidence to answer an Essential Question developed by the District:
-
To what extent does our current approach to the teaching of writing K-12:
-
reflect instructional stategies that are consistent and focused on critical/creative thinking skills;
-
use a variety of assessment data to inform instruction; and
-
include appropriate professional learning to support our approach?

The Consultancy Report was presented to the Board of Education on May 17, 2016, and may be accessed here. Internal analysis of the Report has motivated the 2016-2017 "Trumbull Writes!" initiative among other developments.
In October 2017, the Trumbull Public Schools were pleased to host a follow-up three-day Visitation on Writing across the Curriculum, K-12. The Report of the Visit Team may be accessed here; a presentation of the Report to the Trumbull Board of Education on January 23, 2018, may be accessed here.
