The district uses a variety of books, print materials, curriculum resources and digital tools to support instruction in the classroom. In an effort to capitalize on the significant educational benefits of Google Apps for Education, the Trumbull Public Schools have established leveled Google Apps Use across the district.
Information on Leveled Google Apps Use in the Trumbull Public Schools Google Apps for Education has significant educational benefits. Among them:
- Anytime, anywhere access from any browser on any computer, meaning that e-mail, calendars, and documents can be accessed in school or at home, and no flash drives are necessary
- The ability for Trumbull students and staff to collaborate easily with one another, including electronically sharing documents for class assignments The ability for Trumbull students and staff to collaborate easily with individuals outside their own classes and even schools; even students in other districts and countries can collaborate
- The ability for Trumbull teachers to provide electronic feedback to students on their writing and other work
- The ability for Trumbull students to develop e-portfolios of their work over time and across grades
Given the vast potential of 21st -century digital learning, the educational benefits of Google Apps for Education are compelling. In the interest of providing all students an age-appropriate educationally rich experience, the Trumbull Public Schools have established the following levels of Google Apps access district-wide:
Level 1 | Grades K-5 | Access to Google Docs, Calendar, Keep, Meet, Classroom and Drive enabling word processing, drawing, presentation, forms, and spreadsheet programs |
Level 2 | Grades 6-8 | Access to everything in Level I, plus e-mail within the trumbullps.net domain |
Level 3 | Grades 9-12 | Access to everything in Levels I & II, plus e-mail outside the trumbullps.net domain |
A TPS student can access his/her Google Apps accounts by logging in with username and password.
