Trumbull Partnership
Against Underage Drinking
Thank you for your interest in the Trumbull
Partnership Against Underage Drinking (TPAUD).
Background:
In 2006, the Trumbull Board of Education was
awarded $66,000 annually over three (3) years
to study the issue and develop a community
based, data driven action plan to address the
issue on underage drinking. Trumbull
is one of 29 Connecticut grantees to receive
this competitive grant from the Connecticut
Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services
(DMHAS) on behalf of the Office of the Governor. The
grant is sponsored locally by the Trumbull
Board of Education and Trumbull CARES, the
First Selectman’s Prevention Council.
Community Meetings:
TPAUD has scheduled community meetings designed
to provide parents with more information about
underage drinking. The presentations
will increase parents’ awareness regarding
the prevalence of underage drinking in our
community and across the state. Clear
information will be provided about dangers
related to underage drinking that typically
go unnoticed. Finally, parents will be
provided with information that will help them
to start having conversations with their children
to set clear boundaries and limits to reduce
the likelihood that they will become underage
drinkers.
All meetings are free and open to the public. (NOTE:
You do not have to be associated with the school
at which these meetings are being held in order
to attend.)
To get involved in TPAUD, please e-mail Peg
Perillie, TPAUD co-chair, at pegperillie@charter.net.
If your community or church group would like
someone from TPAUD to address the issue of underage
drinking and what can be done about it, please
contact Marcia Maslo, Trumbull Youth Director,
at (203) 396-0134.
