Vision The media center is just that-a center for media. Video, the Internet, other electronic media and, of course, books-the media center is the school's information source. Here in the media center, our first goal is to provide students and teachers with the most reliable and up-to-date information available. We also hope to teach students how to access and take control of that information for themselves. Information has gotten easier to find, but evaluating it and using it becomes the true challenge. In our vision, the media center moves beyond just being a provider of information-we want to help students to create, as well. Whether it's a web page or video, a Powerpoint presentation or a traditional paper, our mission is to be not only an information resource, but a production resource as well. The media center-it's more than a library.
Internet Mission The Internet is a busy place, with literally millions of useful resources. The media center's web pages are designed to help students and faculty find only a few of the most helpful resources. There are much more comprehensive lists of sites, of course-- our goal is to make site selection a more manageable task. We've grouped pages together by their purpose and content-- atlases, for example, are listed together and can be found on the Reference page. In addition, we've annotated each link so that users have an idea of what they're getting before they go there. The media center always welcomes suggestions of sites that students or faculty feel should be added to the media center pages.
