BrainPOP BrainPOP is a terrific teacher resource that includes animated videos that explain a vast number of topics in a range of content areas. General Cool Sites: MLA Citation Style: C.W. Post has a color coded explanation of MLA here that makes things simple. Furl: Allows you to save any web page into your own folder to hold on to even if the link disappears. Very handy if you find a site you'll want to use in the future. You'll need to set up an account. Kathy Schrock's Guide for Educators: From education sites to tutorials, this is a premiere gateway for teachers. Tutorial for Beginners: Intimidated by the Internet? No need to be. It's not as hard as it looks, and this tutorial proves it. Evaluating Internet Resources: Todd Wehr Library has done a great job of breaking down how to evaulate a website. Springfield Township Library: It's busy, it may be overwhleming, but you can find a lot of cool sites. ERIC: Rember ERIC? Well, a lot of it is now available, for free. Rubistar (for Rubrics): If you want to create a rubric and are looking for an easy way of doing it, try this. Discovery School Puzzlemaker: Word searches, number blocks, fallen phrases, they're easy to create. Math: National Library for Virtual Manipulatives: There are great puzzles and activities for high school kids. English: Center for Media Literacy: From understanding what it is to activities that help teach it, this is a great resource for media literacy. Social Studies Thomas: Everything you want to know about what's going on in Congress. Debate Central: Including the National Forensic League Topic of the year. Social Studies Lessons and Activities: From PBS. Teacher Lesson Plans-- Social Sciences: Hundreds of great lesson plans. More Lesson Plans: Some of the most creative around. Foreign Language Altavista's Babel Fish Translator: English to French, Japanese to English, no problem. Well, sort of. Science: Understanding Evolution: Helps teachers figure out how to explain this sensitive subject. Includes level appropriate lesson plans.
