Crisis Intervention Specialist

The Crisis Intervention Specialist (CIS) provides a variety of scientifically research-based instruction (SRBI) and tiered interventions to students with academic and/or social/emotional concerns.  This allows for services to be delivered in the most efficient and effective way. The CIS delivers or co-delivers the following SRBI programs:

As the coordinator of the Early Intervention Team (EIT), the CIS facilitates an interdisciplinary educational team problem solving academic and social and emotional concerns.  Some EIT interventions include, parent meetings, behavior intervention plans, social work services, individual student counseling, progress monitoring, referral to community-based agencies and  Peer Mediation.

As a member of the Crisis Intervention Team, the CIS assists in the development and implementation of crisis services in accordance with district policy, best practices, and the mandates of the Connecticut State Department of Education.
