Training Room Information:
The training room is staffed by a certified Athletic Trainer who offers professional attention to health care needs of student-athletes. Medical services available to the student-athletes are assessment, care, rehabilitation of athletic injuries, body composition, strengthening and flexibility programs. Hours are flexible and may vary due to seasonal changes and game times. The training room is located outside of the main gym to the right going out toward the coaches parking lot.
Hours: Monday through Friday: 1:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.: Pre-participation program, evaluations, therapy, practice and game coverage, and post practice and game evaluations. Rehabilitation and treatment sessions are scheduled by appointment.
Athletic Insurance:
Interscholastic sports participants are required to purchase an Accident Medical Insurance Plan purchased by the Trumbull Board of Education. The plan covers team players, managers and cheerleaders for accidental injuries resulting from playing, practicing or traveling to or from ant interscholastic sport activity. The plan is an "excess" type benefit that picks up where other coverage leaves off and, as such, pays only the medical expenses not reimbursable under other coverage.
Injury Report Procedure:
All injuries must be reported to the Athletic Trainer and the School Nurse by the student within a 24 hour period and an accident report must be completed by the School Nurse. Insurance forms will be issued to the athlete by the School Nurse. The athlete's parent/guardian will provide the appropriate information on the form and return it to the School Nurse. An injury report form will be completed by the Athletic Trainer. If medical evaluation is recommended, a physician should be consulted. Red cards are issued by the Athletic Trainer when it is deemed necessary for an athlete to be removed from athletic participation. The athlete's physician or the Athletic Trainer will make this decision. The athletes must then present the red card to the coach. Failure to present the red card will result in a suspension from the team.
Return-to-Play Form:
If the athlete has been under the care of the Athletic Trainer, the athlete will be issued a Return-to-Play form by the Athletic Trainer. Athletes seen by a physician will be issued a Return-to-Play form by the Athletic Trainer upon receipt of a physician's written note indicating the injured athlete is able to resume participation.
Code of Ethics:
It is the duty of all concerned with Trumbull High School
athletics:
1. to emphasize the proper ideals of sportsmanship, ethical conduct and fair play.
2. to stress the values derived from playing the game fairly.
3. to show cordial courtesy to visiting teams and officials.
4. to establish a pleasant relationship between visitors and hosts.
5. to respect the integrity and judgment of sports officials.
6. to achieve a thorough understanding and acceptance of the rules of the game and the standards of eligibility.
7. to encourage leadership, use of initiative, and good judgment by the players on the team.
8. to recognize that the basic purpose of our athletic program is to promote the physical, mental, moral, social and emotional well-being of the individual players.
9. to remember that an athletic contest is only a game - not a matter of life or death for players, coach, school, officials, fans, community or state.
Spectator Conduct:
Good sportsmanship requires all Trumbull spectators to follow this code of conduct: Cheer for Trumbull, never mock or boo opponents. Be considerate of opposing players and coaches. Treat visiting teams as invited guests. Become familiar with the spirit and rules of the game. Accept decisions made by officials. Be gracious in victory, sportsmanlike in defeat. Cheer good plays by either team. Support our cheerleaders positively. Remember all school rules of behavior apply to athletic contests.
College Bound Athlete:
Any student who anticipates playing college athletics is urged to examine a copy of the latest NCAA Guide for the College Bound Student-Athlete available in the career center and the Athletic Director's office by the end of their Junior year. This publication summarizes NCAA rules and regulations governing recruiting, eligibility, financial aid, transfers and professionalism. Once you register with the NCAA on-line, the guidance department will help to forward your transcript to the Clearing House.
