Be Independent Learners And Thinkers

EXEMPLARY - Student demonstrates a strong sense of initiative by generating questions, creating original projects, and sharing data based on valid research, resulting in well-informed conclusions. The student embraces a challenge, is analytical, insightful and displays a productive work ethic. As an independent, life-long learner, the student accepts the challenge of enhancing his/her education by initiating activities that carry outside the classroom.

PROFICIENT - Student demonstrates initiative by creating original projects that research and probe a topic and lead to a well-informed conclusion. The student accepts a challenging problem presented to him/her and works independently with direction to reach a solution. As a life-long learner, the student often takes on a task independent of any classroom assignment or project.

NEEDS IMPROVEMENT - Student occasionally shows initiative by creating an original project that demonstrates some self-reflection, research and a limited conclusion. As a life-long learner, the student on occasion goes beyond the bounds of classroom instruction and assignments.

UNACCEPTABLE - Student shows little initiative to work independently outside the confines of the classroom. The student sees learning as only that which is required of him/her in school and the classroom.
