Create Meaningful Connections To Prior Knowledge In Order To Further Life Experiences

EXEMPLARY - An accomplished level of integration of academic experiences with real world experiences and personal life experiences exists. Connections made in oral and written work reflect creativity, originality, and uniqueness in preparation and presentation. Consistent use of current news articles, literature, journals, and research serve as a foundation from which the student thaws insightful conclusions. Student participation in field trips, job shadowing, community service, and School-To-Career opportunities is well documented. Although the student has a strong sense of his/her own beliefs, he/she understands and is accepting and respectful of the global issues that face a diverse society.

PROFICIENT - An appropriate level of integration of academic experiences with real world experiences and personal life experiences exists. Connections made in oral and written work reflect thoughtful preparation and presentation of material. Student selects and uses a variety of venues to draw conclusions. Student participates in field trips, job shadowing, community service or School-to-Career opportunities. The student is aware that he/she lives in a global society and respects its diversity.

NEEDS IMPROVEMENT - A minimal level of integration of academic experiences with real world experiences and personal life experiences exists. Connections made are evident in oral and written work. Some sources of information are used to guide the student to thaw conclusions. Sporadic participation infield trips, job shadowing or School-to-Career opportunities is noted. There is limited evidence of participation in community service. The student has a li sense of a global society, but sees little connection to himself/herself.

UNACCEPTABLE - Very little evidence of integration between academic experiences with real world experiences and personal life experiences exists. Few connections are made in oral and written work. Given multi sources of information, the student does not provide cogent conclusions. Assigned work is not completed or at times even attempted. The student’s world centers on himself/herself and his/her immediate surroundings.
