TECEC PTO MEETING
Monday, February 1, 2010
The meeting began at 6pm and adjourned at 7:00pm
This was a joint meeting of the PTO and Father’s Club. Dawn Tamorria welcomed everyone on behalf of both groups.
Old Business
Tricia Brown went over the treasurer’s report. The filing of the 501C3 is complete, but may take up to four months to be approved.
New Business
The Father’s Club talked about upcoming events. There will be a movie night on Friday, February 26th at Middlebrooks Elementary School. They will also have a bowling day at Nutmeg Bowl in Fairfield on March 6th. The cost for the bowling is $10 per person and includes 2 games of bowling and shoe rental.
Jennifer Larsen-Neumann spoke about Ladies Night to be held on March 26th. The team is working on items for the silent auction and are looking for more vendors for the evening. The event will be advertised in the Trumbull Times and on the Suzy Said website.
The Spring Egg Hunt will be held at Jane Ryan School on March 20th. Jennifer also spoke about upcoming play dates. On February 19th, there will be a play date at “Our Backyard” which is above the Nutmeg Bowl in Fairfield. It includes inflatable, tunnels and a rock wall. The cost is $10 and also includes pizza and juice. On March 12th, there will be a play date at Next Dimension Gymnastics. She is also working on a play date for April at the Sports Zone.
Dawn Tamorria spoke about the open board positions for the 2010-2011 school year. We are looking for new volunteers. Nominations will be in May and elections will take place in June. We are also looking for people to chair the newsletter and the scrapbooks project for this year.
Matt Wheeler spoke about the following:
Nurse Pat will be collecting pennies to be donated to the animal shelter. She is also looking for Beanie Babies to decorate the front office. Any donations can be sent to her, the beanie babies will not be returned.
The sex offenders registry is available on line. The superintendent is mandated to let you know, but there is no risk to our children.
Heatherly Hane will be running a 1-2-3 Magic workshop in March. There may also be a workshop on stress and anxiety held at the end of March. More information will follow.
He thanked Tricia Brown for her work on the newsletter that went home in January.
The next meeting of the PTO will be held on Monday, March 1, 2010.
