Trumbull Public Schools

Staff Development

The State of Connecticut mandates that each school district provide, in a five year period, ninety hours of professional development activities for all staff members. CEU's are provided.

Members of the department are responsible for selecting, providing and evaluating professional development activities for all members of the Trumbull Public Schools' staffs. Classroom teachers in grades K - 8 meet monthly with Program Leaders in a planned series of after-school activities designed to assist teachers in implementing curriculum, in using new instructional materials, and in learning about and adapting "best practices" and current research findings. In addition, the department plans and conducts system-wide staff development full and half-day activities, focusing on district goals such as performance based learning and assessment, the instructional uses of technology, and the implementation of initiatives aimed at meeting State mandates for literacy and numeracy. Program Leaders are available to design and model lessons and to work with teachers and building administrators to improve instruction.
