Intercom Announcements
Birthdays and special accomplishments of individual students are
mentioned daily.
Birthday/Get
Well Cards
Birthday cards are given by the principal to students on a daily basis.
Students who are in the hospital or home for any extended illness receive
get well cards from the school.
Individual
Classroom Awards
Throughout the year teachers reward students for good behavior,
citizenship or academic accomplishments.
Roaring
Readers
Those students who read 15-20 minutes each night for 20 days in the month
are given a reward each month.
Student
Council
Our council involves all students in projects and activities which
benefit the school and/or community. Our students gain in leadership,
problem solving skills, school spirit and pride, while getting things done.
Awards
Assembly
Each June, awards are presented for outstanding performance in science,
math, social studies, language, reading, art, chorus, band and physical
education.
Assignment
Books
Each student in grades 2-5 is given an assignment book which is used
daily to maintain homework and class work assignments. Parents are asked
to review these books on a regular basis. This is an excellent way for
students to manage their time.
Jump
Rope for Heart
Each spring, students in grades 1-5 join together to jump rope for the
American Heart Association. The money raised is donated to heart
research. In the past, Jane
Ryan School
has been one of the top money raisers in the State.
Junior
Achievement
Parents and community leaders from the business world come into the
school and present to the students how business and the community are
linked. Students get an opportunity to see how business leaders relate to
education.
Father's
Club
The fathers from the school meet on a monthly basis to plan activities
and events for the students. Included in these activities are: Super Bowl
Breakfast, Mother's Day Dinner, Friday Night Movies, Basketball games,
etc.
Chorus/Band/Strings
Students in grades three and four can play a string instrument and
students in grades four and five can play a band instrument. Students
also have an opportunity to join the chorus and sing in the concert.
After
School Enrichment
Students can sign up for after school activities including sports, arts
and crafts, band, science and computers at various times throughout the
year.
