In a one-day, "flash fundraiser," the students and staff at Hillcrest donated almost $200 for a homeless shelter in our area. Students paid a dollar for the privilege of using their headphones to listen to music during lunch. This event was organized by the Spokes Service Club, and the money will be used to provide shelter and food for shelters serving the poor in this bitter cold weather.
Dear Hillcrest Parents,

I want to take this time to thank Nurse Liz for her tremendous service to the Hillcrest community over the past five years. She was wonderful with our students, parents and faculty/staff. She begins a new chapter in her career at THS and we wish her the best. At this time, I would like to welcome in Nurse Tracy, who comes to us highly recommended and from Frenchtown. We are excited to have her on board and she has been shadowing Nurse Liz for a week so she is up-to-date with our medical needs in the building. Many of our students have already had the chance to meet her and she will fit right in with our Hillcrest community.

Click this link for our Instructional Calendar. Many of you remember this from last year as it covered the last two trimesters. This one covers all three trimesters and includes the content and skills which students will be working on in a particular course as well as corresponding priority standards. All courses are covered as the teachers worked extremely hard to explain the key details of a unit. This calendar is not a pacing guide but rather serves as a snapshot of the content and skills that students will be working on throughout the course of the trimester. We find that this tool has been especially helpful not just in creating transparency in the students' learning but also by assisting us in keeping track of the extreme curriculum restructuring brought on by the Common Core State Standards which went into effect this year. As a faculty, we look over the content of the calendar and this helps us to align work by/at the most appropriate times of the year in order to assist with the best practice of reinforcing information to students over the course of a day. Again, this is not the curriculum or the pacing guide but rather a bird's eye view of instruction. Enjoy!
